Going for More than Gold
It took a long time, but we finally connected in London apart from other agendas (we’ve been together for different things over the year). Bryan has come on board with GEM in the New Initiatives arena and has been working on organizing teams to engage in ministry during the London Summer Olympics in 2012 (that’s right, next year). So far 28 teams are seeking to serve in some capacity during the Olympics. Most will be engaging in evangelism, but in connection with existing ministries in the U.K. so that follow-up can occur.
Our goal is not simply the Olympics, but more long-term workers to advance the vision of intentional reproducing discipleship movements. We see the Olympics as a key piece to pique the interest of people to join in reaching the U.K. for Christ in the long-run. Please pray for this outcome. It is actually the more important one. Oh yes, we want tons of people to trust Jesus during the Olympics, but we also want more than that.
On my trip, Bryan introduced me to Ian (see the picture) and also the head of the More than Gold leadership team Jon (no picture). All are amazing people with a great heart for God’s Kingdom.
