Sharing God’s Work in Poznań

As I have worked to see the 50-in-5 (now CityReach) initiative developed throughout Europe, I have also worked with disciple-making in Poznań. I’d love to share the history of what has occurred with having to be focused mostly elsewhere. God worked through people I discipled to follow Jesus here, and now their exists a system of 21 multiplying groups, some of which are at third generation, indicating the DNA is taking root. The leaders now want to see Poznań and Poland saturated with disciple-making churches (disciples of Jesus first, church second).
Here, at our April Iron-on-Iron, where we gathered our CityReach Leaders, I had the opportunity to share what God was doing, and clearly, He gets the credit. As I shared with the group, God seemed to be working behind my back. The growth actually started while I was in the U.S. on our home ministry assignment.
An additional encouragement happened for me at the Iron-on-Iron strategy coaching. For the past almost 5 years I have spent traveling Europe to see the Kingdom of God expand, when I threw the Poznan generational map up on the screen, the crowd asked, “Where are we?” on that map. In other words, they were acknowledging the works that have developed across Europe that I have come alongside to encourage, coach and develop with them. My response to them was to let them know, they (CityReach Leaders) are there, just not on the screen, and because they are there, the future of Europe looks bright. God has opened a window in time to take us back to disciple-making that cultivates immediate responsiveness to God and what He is doing around us.
During the week of the Budapest and Kandern conferences, I noted 45 (that I knew personally) cities, where movement-model disciple-making has an influence and is taking root. About two thirds of those locations are in the CityReach network. I am aware of many more too. God invites us all on His mission of expanding His Kingdom through making disciples of Jesus.
