The Streets of Rome

Communicating Christ!

As we left St. Peter’s square in Vatican City, we ran into Iwan from Albania, looking for work in Rome and temporarily housed in a refugee camp.  He only asked for one Euro cent.  That started the conversation.  Joe, Mary and I all had the chance to share with him about Jesus.  After a while, we understood He was a believer, so we rejoiced and then prayed for him.

This was typical during the days I had in Rome with the Siricos, who are praying, planning and working to see a disciple-multiplication movement leading to churches throughout the city of Rome.  Over two days we hit the streets and engaged 15 to 20 people with the Gospel.  An amazing time.  We talked strategy, engaged with a National leaders, and wondered about God’s heart and what it would take to see Rome actually reached with the gospel.

We know a good numbered heard those days.  Many more will hear in the future.  It is not about getting into heaven, but becoming a disciple, a life-long follower of Jesus.  John Piper says, “The gospel is not a way to get people to heaven; it is a way to get people to God.”

Please pray for the Siricos and the work in Rome.
