Our 8th Annual Street Party

Motylka Party

You never know what kinds of traditions are going to start.  In 2003 we moved to our current home  and decided it would be great to get to know our neighbors so we coordinated with another couple on the street and held the first Motylka Street party.  This was the 8th, and now it is known as the Holiday of Motylka Street.  We did not think it would become a tradition, but it has and our neighbors look forward to it as the summer ends.  Usually it is the last Saturday evening of the summer before school starts.

The neighborhood kids do dances or skits, then we eat and talk until about midnight with all our neighbors on the street.  It is quite an extravagance.  Yes, it is BYOF -- bring your own food -- and we do eat a lot of Polish sausage as well as a lot of baked sweets.

We like our street and our neighbors.  And I think the street party keeps the relationships on the street in great stead.  Please pray that God work in us for our neighbors.
